Beautifully designed custom bedding is a detail that can enhance your design and separate you from others. This session will provide you with hands-on information and valuable handouts that will get you started on specifying custom bedding for your clients.

Topics covered:

• Competing with today’s online shopping and inexpensive ready-made retail bedding products

•   Suppliers of custom bedding fabrics and fabrication including fabric samples

•   Custom bedding items: bed covers, skirts, pillow and cushion covers, scarves, canopies

•   Displays of ready-made and custom bedding pieces

Speaker: Marilyn Benn has spent 40+ years in the drapery industry, starting as a seamstress to earn money for college to opening The Drapery Den. Her vast knowledge and passion for textiles, drapery, hardware and bedding is impressive. Her commitment to education is a huge benefit to the design industry!

HOW TO DESIGN AND EXECUTE CUSTOM FURNITURE BY UTILIZING DOMESTIC HARDWOODS

As creatives, we want to provide our clients with unique designs that elevate their space and custom furniture can provide that one-of-a-kind piece that can do just that!

This session covers:

  • The benefits of using quality domestic hardwoods in a variety of design application including furniture, built-ins and more
  • How to effectively design a space using the live edge wood trend
Speaker: Rob Purvis is the craftsman that brings life to every piece built by Stone City Woodworks. His early career as a graphic designer translated well when he decided to add carpentry to his list of talents. Rob’s easy-going-nature, creativity and attention to detail bring a client’s vision to life

Linda KafkaMarketing and Sales Manager, Architect@Work, and former Managing Director of Toronto International Design Centre (formerly SoFA) will bring us her insights from High Point Fall Market on what’s hot and what’s not. 

Drawing on images from major showrooms and Style Spotter finds, Linda will give us the inside track on industry direction.

THE SECRET TO BEING PAIN FREE IS HIDING IN YOUR WORKPLACE
 

Preventing and mending injury in our creative field can be complex. This session takes injury rehabilitation and prevention beyond the treatment table to provide information, education, and tools to incorporate into our daily lives so that we can reach our full potential. Advice and demonstration on how to avoid, or fix, chronic injury and improve our overall health and well-being.

Speakers:

Jenn Bushell is the Managing Partner of 360centre360 and a registered Kinesiologist/Certified Athletic Therapist who specializes in treating musculoskeletal injuries, concussions, and functional assessments.  She loves working with active individuals to solve their pain and improve their function.

Jade Babcock is a registered physiotherapist whose approach to physical therapy is embedded with patient education. In addition to treating your injury, her primary goal is to fix the mechanical problems that lead to your pain in the first place.

Non-member Fee $125 + HST = $141.25

Student Fee $75.00 + HST = $84.75
